Turkey. SuperLiga 2026/27: schedule, derbies and Moroccans to watch
The Süper Lig sits at the summit of Turkish football ⚽. Run by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), it is in its 69th season in 2026/27. Eighteen clubs take part, the fifteen who stayed up plus three promoted sides, over 34 rounds played home and away, 306 games in total, in the same format as in 2025/26. At the end, the clubs in 16th, 17th and 18th drop into the TFF 1. Lig.
Istanbul dominates the map, with six of the eighteen clubs: Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, Başakşehir, Kasımpaşa and Eyüpspor. The other twelve come from Trabzon (Trabzonspor), İzmir (Göztepe), Samsun, Rize, Konya, İzmit (Kocaelispor), Alanya, Gaziantep, Ankara (Gençlerbirliği), Erzurum, Diyarbakır (Amedspor) and Çorum.
The 2026/27 schedule and the derbies
The TFF held the fixture draw on 9 July 2026. The season kicked off on 14 August 2026 with the champions, Galatasaray, against newcomers Çorum FK, and ends on 23 May 2027. The winter break comes after round 16, played from 18 to 21 December 2026, and the league resumes with round 17 from 15 to 18 January 2027. Fenerbahçe against Beşiktaş in round 4 and Trabzonspor against Galatasaray in round 6 have already been played. Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş each meet their two big Istanbul rivals twice. With six Istanbul clubs in the top flight, the season holds 30 games between neighbours from the same city.
Galatasaray, 2025/26 champions
Galatasaray won their 26th Turkish title in 2025/26, their fourth in a row, under coach Okan Buruk. They clinched it with a round to spare: on Saturday 9 May 2026, in round 33, they beat Antalyaspor 4:2 at home, with two goals from Victor Osimhen and one each from Mario Lemina and Kaan Ayhan. That left them four points clear of Fenerbahçe with one game to go. The TFF officially registered the title on 19 May 2026.
Final standings: Galatasaray 77 points (24 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats, 77 goals for and 30 against), Fenerbahçe 74 (21 wins, 11 draws, 2 defeats), Trabzonspor 69, Beşiktaş 60 and Başakşehir 57. Fenerbahçe lost three games fewer than the champions and still finished three points behind. The two rivals scored the same number of goals, 77 each, but Galatasaray conceded seven fewer.
Three promoted clubs, three relegated
The second tier sends two clubs straight up and a third through the play-offs. Erzurumspor FK, champions of the TFF 1. Lig, sealed promotion on 19 April 2026, after round 36, with two rounds left. Amedspor, second on 74 points, made sure of theirs on 2 May 2026 in the 38th and final round, with a 3:3 draw at Iğdır. Çorum FK won the play-off final 2:0 against Esenler Erokspor on 24 May 2026 in Konya. Amedspor and Çorum FK are playing in the Süper Lig for the first time. They replace Antalyaspor (32 points), Kayserispor and Fatih Karagümrük (30 points each).
Moroccans in the Süper Lig
At the start of the 2026/27 season, Eyüpspor had two Moroccans in their squad: centre-back Jawad El Yamiq, who has played for Morocco, and midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri. Both started against Beşiktaş on 16 August 2026 in round 1 of the new season. At Trabzonspor, Moroccan midfielder Benjamin Bouchouari was brought back into the first team for the season before the summer window closed on 4 September 2026. Squads can still change in the winter window, so this list reflects the start of the season.
